Conservation Areas and Listed Buildings

The Society works closely with the City's Conservation Officer in monitoring the conservation areas of the city, Listed Buildings on the MCMS / English Heritage list and supports the council  local listing of buildings and street furniture, local heritage features etc at risk.

We monitor all planning applications including applications for advertising in the conservation areas and any application relating to Listed Buildings or Open Spaces. As appropriate we consult other societies such as Southampton Commons and Parks Protection Society and the Open Space Society. 

There are 20 conservation areas in the city and the protection includes trees. Full details of the restrictions associated with these areas are obtainable on the SCC website.
